We are a Canadian Company, operating proudly in the GTA for over 50 years.  GTA is the Greater Toronto Area for those from out of province.  We attempt to deal with Canadian manufacturers wherever possible, though the continuing integration of NAFTA made that quite difficult over the years.  We had no reason not to recommend US quality, choice, fashion sense and dependability.  Some time in the early 2000’s Americans decided that Asia had better value and hundreds of factories closed up and were shuttered by business leaders seeking market share not domestic production.  Price became the ONLY reason to buy and buy “we” did.  Quality was no longer the watchword and consumerism reached alarming new heights with most products enjoyed for a very brief time until it became the inevitable landfill.    All American consumers looked for the Best Deal and the rust belt of the USA was hollowed out.  That eliminated a great deal of choice for small companies like us and we became victims of the new importers.

The tables have turned.  America is re-shoring some of its industry.  However, a Tariff Wall has just been announced to extract some other concessions that none of us understand.  The purported reason is border security – it is Canada that needs a more secure border from guns and gangs freely travelling here and establishing patches of ground to ply their trade.

These sentiments are those of the owners of Triden Distributors.  There is a REAL concern that financial markets and the health of international trade may be severely affected by all this – but it is too early to tell.  For now, we recommend Canadians find domestic alternatives for the goods and services they buy daily.

We have sales representation coast to coast and work with our customers, their dealers, interior designers, architects and manufacturers as well as the tradespeople and craftsmen who involved in seating and trim.

As a service company we provide a sourcing service where we use our many collected years of experience in related soft goods industries to help you find the difficult or impossible item you just have to have! Our sales staff have the answers or can get them on a wide variety of the many things that go into soft seating, or about machinery used in your plant. We run a fleet of trucks for next day delivery in the Greater Toronto area and use common carriers such as UPS for out-of-town deliveries.

As a wholesale distributor we stock what we sample. Our modern computerized operation helps us receive and ship on the same day, with many deliveries being cross-dock shipped.

We also custom cut and deliver polyurethane foam for special applications. Just tell us the technical specifications you require and let us do the rest!

Triden Upholstery Coverings

This division of Triden was created to focus on what we think we do best - supplying quality contract upholstery coverings to the soft seating industries who demand quality, cleanability and durability.
Because of recent innovations in the manufacture of polyvinyl chloride, vinyls may now be printed to look like fabrics. This remarkable innovation has given vinyls a whole new opportunity in the marketplace previously untapped.

Our History

Triden Distributors was formed in September 1973 by three young men, all of whom had families, steady jobs and homes in the suburbs. An opportunity presented itself to provide quality product with reasonable prices and business policies that showed they cared about their customer. Triden took its name from the Norse god Neptune's favourite weapon, the Trident. The last 'T' was dropped for trademark reasons - the chewing gum people said "no".

Two of those three men are still actively involved as part of day to day operations: John Peare and Doug Ruggles. Both have been joined by their sons and today this family company operates in South Pickering, Ontario, a suburb of Metropolitan Toronto.

With sales representation nationwide and a full complement of products, services and knowledge for their customer, Triden is looking forward to its continued growth and the opportunity to add another generation to the family tree!
